The Blended Finance Scheme combines a Land Bank loan with a grant from the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development so that black farmers can finance land, infrastructure, machinery, livestock and production inputs without carrying the full amount as debt. The grant share is larger for smallholders and for women, youth and people with disabilities.
Farmers need access to land (owned, leased or under a permission to occupy), a farm plan and, for larger amounts, a track record. Land Bank's provincial offices and agricultural advisors help with the application.
Who qualifies
Black South African farmer or agri-business with access to land and a viable farm plan; registered where required; able to service the loan portion.
