Sectors
EMIA helps South African companies develop export markets. It funds a share of air fares, exhibition space and stand costs at national pavilions, outward selling and investment missions, individual market research trips, and hosting foreign buyers. SMMEs and black-owned exporters get the higher assistance rates.
Applications are made per event and must be submitted well ahead of the travel date (the dtic publishes a calendar of supported pavilions each year). Export councils and provincial investment agencies can bundle members into group applications.
Who qualifies
South African-registered exporter or export-ready manufacturer; tax compliant; must apply before the event and meet the scheme's trading and product-origin rules.
How to apply
Apply on the dtic incentives portal under EMIA, or through your export council. Regional dtic offices assist first-time exporters.
Insly is not the funder and charges nothing. Amounts and rules are as published by Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) and were last checked 15 Sept 2026; confirm on their site before applying. No legitimate funder charges an application fee.
