This fund solves the "first customer" problem. If a South African start-up or SMME has a working technology and a government department, municipality or state entity willing to pilot it, TIA funds the deployment, testing and validation, up to R1 million over as long as 24 months.
The pilot data then supports procurement and private investment. Letters of intent from the public-sector customer are essential.
