Tholoana (Sesotho for "fruit") is the SAB Foundation's flagship programme. Selected businesses receive grant funding sized to a growth plan, two years of one-on-one mentoring, business skills training and access to markets. The foundation prioritises businesses owned by women, young people, people with disabilities and those in rural areas and townships, and looks for job creation.

Alumni can later apply to the Tholoana Enterprise Fund for loans and to the foundation's market-access programmes. The 2026 intake is accepting applications on sabfoundation.co.za.

Who qualifies

South African-owned small business trading for at least a year with the potential to grow and hire; owner works in the business full time; priority groups as above.
