Kosi Bay home to the rare Palm Nut Vulture and breeding place of the Loggerhead and Leatherback turtles, the area is only one of two where Raffia Palms are to be found in South Africa. The lodge is perfectly situated to really get the full benefit of what is on offer in this very special region. A number of lakes and streams enter the sea at Kosi Bay and the region is famous for numerous pristine beaches. Much of the area is protected within the Kosi Bay Nature Reserve with several hiking trails. Kosi Bay is known for its lush vegetation - fig and raffia palm forests, lakes, beaches and mangrove swamps.

Having been a professional game ranger in the Natal Parks Board and managed the most successful of South Africa's game reserves, Itala Game Reserve, Graham is an accomplished man of the bush and will ensure that your stay is an informative as well as relaxing experience. Come and enjoy the call of the wild with the personal touch! There are three self-contained stone cottages which are strategically set around a picturesque dam. Two cottages are situated on the waters edge with the deck extending over it. The other is more secluded with a small stream flowing past it from a nearby weir. All have large sliding doors that open onto a wooden deck with panoramic views of the bush. Each cottage sleeps two adults and two children with bathrooms en-suite. Rooms are well equipped and tastefully decorated, with each having a bar fridge, air conditioner, television with satellite channels, hospitality tray for your early morning and evening tea or coffee and fresh towels daily. The ceilings of this suite are of Spanish reed and are tied in the traditional manner. The beams are local pine. The king-size bed was made by our cousin Adin from Canary Pine to his own design, as are the side tables and lamps. The mattress was custom made for us by the School for the Blind in Worcester. The Double Delight Suite Named after the deep pink and cream Double Delight Rose, the Double Delight Suite is a deluxe, air conditioned suite with en-suite bathroom that opens directly onto our quiet large, private garden. The ceilings of this suite are of Spanish reed and are tied in the traditional manner. The beams are local pine. The queen-size bed is made from Yellowwood and Kiaat to cousin Adin's design, as are the side tables which are made from Canary Pine and Cypress. The Ecstasy Rose Suite Our latest addition, and equivalent of a Honeymoon suite, the beautifully appointed Ecstasy Rose Suite is named after the Ecstasy rose which grows abundantly in the gardens outside the room. With fantastic mountain views, featuring a Queen Size leather Sleigh bed with hand crafted side tables made from Rose Wood. The dresser and wardrobe are original stinkwood antiques. A large luxurious bathroom with double bath, double vanity and double walk-in shower. Tonevale Game Farm was established in June 2003 on a 500 ha portion of natural bush adjoining a working sugar cane farm. As of 2009 The Game Farm has become exclusively a Game Ranch and has extended to 600ha. At the time, when the game fence was erected, a small group of animals such as duiker, impala, kudu and nyala occurred naturally in the area. In 2003 a programme was started to re-introduce natural species. In October 2003, two giraffe from Imfolosi Game Reserve were introduced as well as small breeding herds of impala, wildebeest, warthog, nyala and zebra. Over the next few years, more species were introduced including two white Rhino in September 2005. All the introductions have been extremely successful and in October 2005 we welcomed the birth of a baby giraffe followed shortly thereafter by a baby rhino not to mention countless young of the other species. The management of Tonevale Game Farm have developed the land in an environmentally sensitive manner, embarking on an alien plant eradication programme and encouraging the return of natural vegetation. A pleasing result of this is the return of abundant bird and small mammal life to the area.
